🧽 Breaking News: The Mop Has Left the Building!

By

Hold the elevator. Call a press conference.
The cleaner has quit.
And the board wants everyone to know.

Within minutes, a community-wide notice went up – laminated, bolded, possibly scented – declaring the departure of the janitorial staff. Tributes were paid. Schedules were disrupted. Tears were almost shed by that one person who’s been waiting for an excuse to complain about dust on the baseboards.

“We wish them the best in their future endeavors,” the notice read, as if the cleaner was headed off to NASA, not the next condo down the street.

But just a few weeks later…

🏛️ The Corporation lost an appeal in Ontario Divisional Court.

  • Yes, the one involving human rights.
  • Yes, the one that cost you over $100,000.
  • Yes, the one they swore they’d win.

And how did they announce that?

🤫 Oh, they didn’t.

No notice. No summary. Not even a reluctant footnote between parking violations and hallway paint touch-ups.

🧠 Let’s Compare:

EventCommunication Level
Cleaner resigns🚨 ALL CAPS EMAIL + Lobby Posters
Legal loss in higher court🦗 Crickets. Deafening, expensive crickets.

đź’¸ We Paid for Silence

Just to be clear:
You, the owners, funded this appeal.
You paid for the filings, the lawyers, the courtroom minutes, the preposterous strategy meetings that probably began with “Let’s ignore the Human Rights Code.”

And after all that – after losing – they told you… nothing.

But hey, at least the mops were properly mourned.

🧻 Suggestion for Future Notices:

“Dear Residents,
While we failed to uphold basic accommodation law and spent your operating fund like it was Monopoly money, we are proud to announce that the dustpan has retired. Please join us in ignoring the actual mess.”

🧼 Final Thought

It says a lot when a cleaner gets a send-off and a court judgment gets swept under the rug.

Maybe next time we lose a case, they’ll finally put up a notice – just not one you can see, unless you’re clairvoyant or staring at the back of the fire extinguisher cabinet.
