šŸŖž The Minion Who Mistook Loyalty for Virtue

By

šŸŽ Act I: The Appointment

Every tyrant needs a cheering section, and Mildred has her own – complete with fluorescent smiles and zero independent thought.
Enter The Minion: freshly recruited, eager to please, and apparently convinced that her main board duty is to block anyone who might dare question Her Majesty.

Forget governance, forget integrity – her true skill lies in strategic seating arrangements: making sure no one competent gets a seat at the table. She quit before she attended even one board meeting.

šŸš¶ā€ā™€ļø Act II: The Pursuit

After the meeting, I was speaking quietly with the kind, courageous woman who had stood up – the only one with enough backbone to call out the atrocities committed against someone with a disability.
And then came him – the man who’s made a hobby of invading my space and pretending he’s ā€œjust talking.ā€

I ignored him.
I turned away.
But he kept coming closer – that uncomfortable, entitled kind of close that makes your stomach twist.

I continued to ignore him.
He didn’t take the hint.
My partner – level-headed, calm, protective – stepped in, positioning himself between the intruder and us.

You’d think that would be the end of it. But no.

šŸ Act III: The Minion’s Entrance

And right on cue – from nowhere – The Minion appeared, voice raised, finger wagging, performing outrage like a theatre student desperate for applause.
She didn’t yell at the man who caused the problem. Oh no.
She yelled at my partner, the one person who had the courage to say: Enough.

The irony?
This same woman who joined the board to protect Mildred’s empire now found herself protecting the very behaviour that has poisoned our community for years – harassment dressed up as civility, intimidation disguised as ā€œconcern.ā€

🪩 Curtain Call

So here’s to Mildred’s Minion – proof that you can sit on a board and still fail to stand for anything.
A reminder that loyalty without principle isn’t virtue.
It’s servitude – and in this case, performed loudly, badly, and in public.
