🚨 Lie No. 6 Exposed: “We Can’t Talk About It – It’s Confidential”

Last night, when owners asked about the ongoing legal proceedings, the Board’s latest excuse was that they “can’t discuss it because it’s confidential.”
Let’s be clear – that’s a lie.

⚖️ Legal Cases Are Public

Court cases in Ontario are public record.
Anyone can look them up by case number or party name through the Ontario Superior Court of Justice or the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario.
These are not private family disputes – they are public proceedings involving a condominium corporation, which is accountable to its owners.

Even when a case is in mediation, that only means the discussions during mediation are private.
The existence of the case, the issues raised, and the allegations filed are not confidential.
The Board knows this – they just count on owners not knowing the difference.

🧾 The Facts They Hid

There are two ongoing legal proceedings against the corporation:

  1. Superior Court (Heard May 30, 2025) —
A harassment claim alleging the corporation and certain directors harassed me and my family for three years, made numerous false accusations (in chronological order: that I had 4 dogs in my unit, that my dogs bark excessively, that I have installed a washer and a dryer), and breached their duty of care.
The case also includes a claim for mental anguish, with $45,000 in damages sought.
  2. Human Rights Tribunal (HRTO)
A case for discrimination against me and my partner.
Mediation has already failed, and it will now move to adjudication.
The CAT already found discrimination, but it couldn’t award damages (CAT does not have jurisdiction to award damages for discrimination) – which is why this HRTO claim was necessary.
    Damages sought: $40,000.

đź’ˇ Translation for Owners

The Board didn’t refuse to answer because it was “confidential.”
They refused because it was inconvenient.
It’s easier to hide behind fake confidentiality than to admit the corporation is facing two open cases for harassment and discrimination.

So yes – Lie No. 6 Exposed.
Legal cases are public. The Board just doesn’t want you to know what’s in them.
